Silent Movie Night
Thursday, September 25, 2025, 7:00 pm
Join other silent movie enthusiasts for this unique event to benefit the magnificent Sacred Heart Cultural Center! This year’s featured film is the 1925 original version of “Phantom of the Opera” starring the iconic Lon Chaney as the “Phantom” and Mary Philbin as his love. This groundbreaking silent movie was the first horror film to achieve box-office success and solidified the Phantom’s status as a cultural icon. Chaney’s performance as the Phantom, with his self-designed makeup, created a memorable character that has lived on in other mediums, including on Broadway for 35 years. Our audience will be dazzled by acclaimed theater organist, Ron Carter, who joins us for his 22nd year to perform the haunting soundtrack, with a few genre-appropriate surprises. Sacred Heart is honored to have Ron join us once again this year!
Adding to the fun this year will be a “Roaring Twenties/Phantom of the Opera” costume contest during intermission. Prizes will be awarded for first and second places, judged by audience participation. Plan your look now and invite your friends for this fun night of classic entertainment!
